Meeting Minutes

 

Lunch

Lunch was served with a choice of entrees.

 

Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at Ricky’s Sports Grill at 12:00 pm on Thursday, February 21, 2013 by Chairman Brent Hipsher.

 

Introductions

Self introductions were performed with 16 people in attendance including Chairman Brent Hipsher, Treasurer Craig Loeffler, and Secretary Carl Cimino. 

 

Old Business

 

The January 26, 2013 meeting minutes were approved as written.

Craig Loeffler gave the Treasurer’s report. Our finances are in order and have an adequate balance in the account.

 

Announcements

Rand Ackroyd of the Plumbing Drainage Institute passed away this month.

 

New Business

A motion carried to make the $200 down-payment for this year’s golf tournament

A motion carried to reimburse expenses for Bob Adler & Steve Panelli to the Technical Committee meeting (Not to exceed $2,000 per person)

A motion was carried to pay to maintain the membership for the Berkeley Faculty Club

A motion was carried to gift Mo Salberg and Sarah Aguilar $100 towards a dinner at Wente Winery

 

 

Discussion

The following items were discussed:

·        The local chapter of ICC will be providing training courses on the new 2013 California Codes and perhaps our chapter could take on the instruction for the 2013 Plumbing and Mechanical Codes.

o       A discussion ensued that included comments about;

§        The use of IAPMO Instructors

§        The need for California Instructors

§        Brent Hipsher teaching a couple of classes

·        Water heaters

·        Changes to Chapters 16 & 17

·        Comprehensive code changes (2013 codes)

§        Med-Gas Trailers

§        Accessibility

§        Sean McCleary on Backflow

§        Researching the cost of instructors

§        The need for guaranteed attendance

§        A possible partnership with the peninsula chapter

§        ISO evaluation cites a lack of training locally

§        ASME Standards (Bob Adler)

·        UL doing evaluation reports

·        Holding a future meeting at the Local 393 Loyd E. Williams Pipe Trades Training Center

         

Presentation

Daryl Feder of Spunstrand spoke about Code Compliance for Underground Ductwork.

Raffle

Tickets were drawn and prizes awarded.  Special thanks to the raffle prize contributors: Sarah Aguilar & Southland Industries, Mo Salberg, Local 393, and IAPMO.

 

Adjournment

The meeting was adjourned at 1:20 PM by Chairman Brent Hipsher.

 

Next Meeting

will be held on 3/21/2013 at Piacere at 727 Laurel Street in San Carlos at 11:30
