Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 12:07 PM on Thursday August 21, 2008 at The Waterfront Restaurant in Redwood City by Sarah Aguilar, Chapter Chairperson of the Central California Chapter of IAPMO. Lunch was served at 12:10 PM.
Self introductions followed and there were 18 attendees. Chapter Officers present were Sarah Aguilar – Chairperson and Don Wadsworth – Treasurer.
The minutes for July were approved.
Don Wadsworth gave the treasury report and it was approved unanimously.
Suggestions for guest speakers are welcome. Contact any of the board members with your requests.
Discussion was opened as to whether we should have any Code seminars this year. It was suggested by Marty Cooper that we schedule for next Spring a seminar by SMACNA on grease ducts and he also suggested seminars on the California Green Guidelines and training related to SB616 .
Sarah Aguilar reported that the Installation dinner has been schedule for January 17, 2009 at the Doubletree Hotel in San Jose (by the airport). Mark your calendar and save the date!
Marty Cooper distributed several documents on the new requirements of grease duct installations and requirements.
Marty Cooper opened up a discussion of the recently received Report on Comments. He suggested to everyone to read them carefully because he found several omissions and errors.
Bob Adler handed out some paperwork on ADA toilets and the requirements relating to the flush handle location. In question was whether a center flush tank toilet met the intent of the code.
At 1:00 PM a presentation on the Pint Urinal and High Efficiency Toilet (HET); the EcoVantage™ Series Flush ValveZurn and the AquaSpec Pre-Rinse Unit was given by Jim Nuovo of Plumbing Products Group. He showed us the Zurn Pint Urinal and talked about the new technology of urinals and flush valves that would require no batteries. He also reported on UCSC and how they were taking out all the waterless urinals and replacing them with the pint urinals. Requests were made for copies of this report.
Dick Watson and Will Robinson representing Ferguson said if we needed any cut sheets or specifications for anything that they would take care of it. .
A raffle was held for the happy recipients. Thank you Southland Industries for the generous raffle prizes.
The next meeting will be on at Ricky’s in San Leandro on September 18, 2008 at 11:30 AM. We will be discussing important issues of the IAPMO Conference being held in September in Atlanta, Georgia.
Chapter Chairperson Sarah Aguilar adjourned the meeting at 1:50 PM.
